In the wake of revelations regarding classified documents being found at both former-President Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate and President Biden's Delaware residence, Mike Pence instructed his legal team to do a search through his home in Carmel, Indiana. That search turned up about a dozen documents marked classified, all of which are now in the custody of the FBI.
Perhaps it was a second thought that saved Pence from this situation coming about in another manner as the search was conducted after Pence had repeatedly stated that he had no such documents in his possession.
The FBI and Justice Department's National Security Division have launched a review of the documents and how they ended up in Pence's new Indiana home, though at this time it is not clear what the documents were related to or their sensitivity or classification.
The search was conducted by Pence's lawyer, Matt Morgan, who had experience handling classified material. Immediately upon finding the documents, Morgan contacted the National Archives who, in turn, informed the Justice Department.
