Congresswoman Katie Porter [D-CA] Announces 2024 Candidacy for US Senate

Katie Porter, democratic Congresswoman for California, announced her long-awaited candidacy for the United States Senate in 2024 in a tweet today, saying:

"California needs a warrior in the Senate---to stand up to special interests, fight the dangerous imbalance in our economy, and hold so-called leaders like Mitch McConnell accountable for rigging our democracy. Today, I'm proud to announce my candidacy for the U.S. Senate in 2024."

The tweet was accompanied by a video where the Congresswoman, who currently leads the attempt to ban stock-trading for members of Congress, highlights her record of "not just challenging the status quo, but calling it out...naming names" while listing some entities that may find her candidacy threatening, including Wall Street & big banks, big oil, and big pharma.

For those familiar with Porter, the proof is already in the pudding, and the pudding is all over a white board.

While some might find calling out corporate CEOs to their face rather frightening, it's the bread-and-butter in terms of Porter's PR, rising to popularity from her videos with her just-as-famous white board, where she breaks down numbers and calls "bullshit" on the lie propagated by corporate America.

I guess it could be said that Katie Porter likes a challenge. Her political career began after she flipped her House seat in a district that was once home to both Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan. Though, when you prove yourself to be a populist---instead of just claiming to be one---it's not as difficult as you might think to find bipartisan support.

That's not to say that the battle ahead of her will be easy. Long hailed as "affirmative action for old, white men", the Senate will definitely give her a run for her money---none of which comes from PACs.

While Katie Porter is part of what makes the US House a home, we're excited to see the disruption she brings to the Senate!
